Final surface modification for better wear resistance of ceramic coating on cast AlSi10Mg alloy

Using the design of experiment (DOE) method and micro-arc oxidation (MAO) technique, ceramic layers on AlSi10Mg alloy were systematically prepared to optimal process conditions for achieving best tribological properties layers. The lowest concentrations applied 6 g/l NaOH 12 Na2SiO3 resulted in preparation uniform MAO with rated parameters Ra, Rz thickness achieved under discharge at 500 V 60 min. With increasing coatings, there was an increase Si coating. Full factorial DOE used optimize a polyalphaolefin (PAO) environment 80 °C. most significant influence abrasion-resistant investigated factors identified by content electrolyte. friction coefficients coatings reached average value 0.15. Aero-lap polishing technology increased wear resistance requirements eliminate deficiencies leading decrease track almost double compared polished silumin. Removal outer layer led reduction high corrosion coating, demonstrating not only but also coatings.
